To my littlest Darling - Iris Raine,

Today marks the day you turn one. I am not sure where the last year has gone and I know that is super cliche to say but I really don't. I feel like we waited an extra long time to meet you as before you was another pregnancy that didn't work out. Things happen for a reason and now we have you, the best little girl and I am so glad we have you, you're truly the most perfect little thing and gift and I can''t imagine not having you or not meeting you. Thank you for being that rainbow after the storm.

A year ago I woke up in the morning to contractions and I bounced to Michael Buble's christmas album for hours to keep them going. As time went on in the day your Nanna had not long arrived back into the UK and she was instantly called to our house to take your older Brother off our hands.
Now, I wasn't convinced I was in labour as it had been stopping and starting on and off for weeks but the fact I couldn't make it up the stairs without contracting and I had to keep getting off the sofa to rock on the floor was enough to know it was time to head to the hospital.

I wont blabber on about your birth too much as I have your birth story HERE, but you rushed into the world going from 4cm - 10 cm in a matter of minutes and giving me the VBAC i'd always wanted.

Birth was just the first chapter to your life on earth and the past year has been amazing with you and watching you grow and learn and you're such a clever bean. You sat up unaided at 4 months old, crawled at 7 months, got your first tooth at 11 months old and can say a few words now too.
You can say Mama, Dada, Nanna, Brother, Hiya, Bye-Bye and Look. I am amazed by you. You're so clever and a wonderful little girl.
You can point, wave hello and goodbye and pull yourself up and walk with assistance.

Now you'll see a pattern in there -YOU LOVE FOOD. Honestly at weighing 16lbs you wouldn't believe the amount of food you eat, you eat everything and anything!! I cannot believe you, you're just like your Dad.

You look just like your Daddy mixed with a baby Nanna. You're super outgoing, cheeky and ginger.
Over the past year I have bonded with you, Iris. We're so close and we spend so much time together just giggling, playing and just being my mini bestie. You have made so many friends too, as well as having Lucas' friends you have loads of your own too. You play so nicely and next year there's lots more little friends due to be born too - Eeeek!

Over the past year watching you grow from my tiny little newborn baby girl to this funny little girl who is full of character has been amazing. You're so special and I love you so much Iris Raine.
The next year of your life has so many new and exciting chapters, your second halloween, being a flower girl for the first time, seeing Mummy and Daddy get married, visiting Disneyland, your second christmas, your christening and soooo much more! I can't wait!

One of my biggest achievements as your Mum is the fact we've completed one year of breastfeeding, something I never thought I could do and i'm so happy and proud of both of us! We've done so well.

Happy 1st Birthday Iris Raine Walters, my little pumpkin, rainbow girl! I hope your first year has been magical and I hope I do you proud as your Mama!
