AUTUMN COSINESS

WHAT MAKES DEARLITTLELUCAS' PERFECT AUTUMN

1. AUTUMN WALKS

Obviously this is a clique one, everyone does it, whether they mean to or not. EVERYONE goes outside in Autumn, but I like to do different things. I go the long ways on purpose, I like to make the walk longer than necessary, whereas in summer i like to walk the shortest way possible.
I also like to jump on the crunchy leaves and leaving the house around 8am is key as you get the fresh, crisp morning air, where its cold enough to see your breath but not cold enough you're freezing. THAT IS THE BEST AUTUMN WALK.

2. BAKING

This includes adding ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, all spice or cloves to all of your recipes. Make your house smell like Autumn, make it smell festive and cuddle on the sofa watching the rain fall or the deceiving blue skies, under a duvet, munching on your latest creation. YUM!

3. HOT CHOCOLATE AND A MOVIE

That time of year where you can drink hot chocolate (or pumpkin spiced lattes) with a movie, under a blanket, slippers and dressing gowns on and eating your baked goods. LOVELY.

4. CANDLES AND FAIRYLIGHTS

You know what i'm talking about, my current faves are candy corn, witches brew, fireside treats and apple crumble. The smell when you walk back in your house and they haven't even been burning and it's all you can smell, the sweet smells, the spicy smells, the our smell of HEAVEN. You sit down light your candles and then you plug in your fairy lights and voila, it makes things so much more cosy.

5. CRAFTS

You know the pumpkin carving, the potato crafts, the leaf crafts, the standard crafts, it makes things so much easier! Theres a craft outside your back door, all you need is paper and PVA glue. The kids are more occupied and you get some cute keepsakes.

6. ACORN HUNTS, CHESTNUT PICKING AND CONKER FIGHTS

The standard autumn things to do. Finding acorns for totoro, chestnut picking for tasty roasted chestnuts (best served with a drizzle of melted sugar) and conker fights. THIS IS DANGEROUS IF YOU ARE COMPETITIVE, haha. Conkers are also meant to keep spiders out of your house... I don't think thats true though.

7. WEAR AUTUMN COLOURS

Mustards, rusts, burnt oranges, burgundys, yellows, tans; You know the colours but yes, wear them, if you really wanna feel Autumn, that will really help. Well it helps me. Whenever I am wearing autumn colours it makes me really happy.

8. AUTUMNAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Nothing makes autumn memories like keeping them forever. Take photo's, go for a walk, take your camera, snap that pretty tree, snap the leaves, take a photo of you or your little in autumnal colours with a lovely auburn backdrop. DO IT, DO IT.

9. DONT SKIP HALLOWEEN

Decorate your house, put up those honeycomb spiders, put skulls up, hang your "happy halloween" bunting. ENJOY HALLOWEEN, if you skip halloween and go straight to christmas then you lose the excitement for autumn, you go straight from summer to winter and that is just a no, no for me.

10. SNUGGLE IN THE GARDEN

Snuggle, use this opportunity to be able to snuggl, you're not going to be sweaty and horrible like in summer, it's so much more romantic, watch fireworks, burn logs in a fire pit, toast marshmallows, have a hot chocolate, get a blanket and stargaze. Make the most of body heat.

ENJOY AUTUMN,
We hope you have the best Autumn,

Love Nicole & Lucas
